Star Forest creates a transformative impact on the school, the community, and the environment. It converts a hot, barren space at Star College into a thriving ecosystem. This pocket forest along the N2 National Highway serves a dual purpose by acting as a pollution and noise buffer, replacing traffic sounds with birdsong. It provides shade, cooling, and biodiversity, offering relief from the heat.

The outdoor classroom within Star Forest functions as a flexible learning and recreation space, connecting learners with nature. The forest reflects sustainability and supports holistic growth for the school and community.

The forest, situated on the school grounds, plays a key role in addressing the high youth unemployment rate in the area. SEED provides free permaculture training, aiming to inspire and equip young people with the skills they need to build thriving, resilient communities. The program emphasizes sustainable food systems, innovative technologies, social entrepreneurship, and transformative education.

Mzanzi Organics already has a strong partnership with the school, offering SEED students a one-month practical internship as part of their broader permaculture training. This collaboration provides hands-on experience and deepens the impact of SEED's mission.
